A Lazy Saturday on the River

Justin, Bryn, and Emily under the nice shady tent.

Justin getting his feet wet in the river. We were at the River Murray. The longest river in Australia.

Justin, John, and Bryn. Justin was getting ready to go out on the SeaDoo.

Justin on his first of many rides on the SeaDoo

The whole gang! We came down for Nyoli's birthday. Nyoli is the one in the little green chair.

Me getting ready to go out for a ride with Rowan. He went really fast! Like 110 K/hr. My eyelids jiggled!

And we are off!

The guys are about to try out the hot dog! It was hilarious because they couldn't stay on it! They kept falling off as soon as they would get on.

See, they guys fell off the hot dog!

Justin relaxing after the end of the day!
We headed down to the Murray River this Saturday to have a fun afternoon on the river! We had a blast! Rowan and Nyoli invited us down for Nyoli's birthday. We had about 10 people total come. We got to ride down with Rowan in the Kombi Van which is always fun. After fun in the sun, we had a nice pub dinner. We came home exhausted and went straight to bed.
The rest of the weekend was pretty relaxed. We are both busy at work this week, but that is okay because in two weeks we get a week off to go to Tassie!! My dad and Theresa will be arriving on Saturday and we are super excited to have some more visitors! We miss you all and will be home in only a few more months! Crazy how fast this year is going!

Victor Harbour Weekend!

This weekend we went down to Victor Harbour with our friends from church, Darren and Kylee. This is where we stayed, Darren's uncle's house. It was beautiful and we overlooked the ocean.

Our first morning we woke up early and walked along the beach for about an hour. It was such a great way to start the weekend! Justin is in the ocean grabbing the tennis ball that he and Darren had pretty much the entire weekend.

Justin, Darren, and Kylee by these really cool rock pools that we came across on our walk.

Me by a rock!

These next pictures are by a place called Horseshoe Bay which is about 10 minutes away from Victor.

I love the water in this picture. It is so blue!

On Saturday afternoon we decided to go and play mini-golf. It was really fun. I hadn't played in such a long time!

This is us playing the Sand Ball Game. It is pretty much the best game ever invented. All you need is a beach and a tennis ball. Here are the rules.... Two teams, one tennis ball In the sand you make a few holes and some obstacles in front of the holes and then you stand behind a line and throw the tennis balls into the holes! Genius game. Me and Kylee lost to Darren and Justin, but I really think we should have won.

We had a really nice relaxed weekend at Victor Harbour. It was great spending some quality time with Darren and Kylee. We are really going to miss them when we go back home! We headed down on Friday night after work and came back late Sunday afternoon. It was so much fun just relaxing and having nothing really to do. We did eat at the Port Elliot Bakery about 3 times. It is sooooo good. I am glad to be back home though, so I am not tempted to eat bakery food everyday. Next weekend, we will be heading down to the river to go have some river fun with church friends. We can't wait! We miss you all!

Australian Bushfires

I am not sure if those of you who are reading this have heard, but there are devastating bush fires raging in the state of Victoria here in Australia. It is the biggest natural disaster in Australia's history. All of the pictures and stories we have been seeing and reading about are awful. They suspect at least 108 people have died and many towns are completely burned to the ground. If any of you are willing to donate to help Australia to rebuild I highly encourage it. I am not sure if the American Red Cross is accepting donations to assist, but I am sure some organizations are somewhere. Australia is a great nation and I hate to see this happen. Any support, would be greatly appreciated.

Movies, Barbies, and Cricket

This was a nice and relaxing weekend after having so many visitors in January. We didn't do too much. On Friday night we went to the Moonlight Cinemas (the outdoor movie theater in the parklands) to see Quantum of Solace. It was really good! I really enjoy going to the Moonlight Cinemas because for some reason watching a movie outside is just more fun! This was our third time going!

Saturday was pretty lazy during the day since it was really hot again. But Saturday night we met up with Rowan and Nyoli for a barbie in the park.

Here are Rowan and Nyoli cooking up our yummy dinner! Oh, and finally on Saturday night the heat went away and as you can see jackets were required! Yay! It is still nice and cool and shouldn't heat back up until the weekends, so we are enjoying the relief while we can!

This is Justin with his boomerang that he brought to the barbie. Now, this is his 3rd boomerang he has had since we have been here. He doesn't have too much luck with them.
Boomerang #1 : Bought at the resort at Uluru. What a great souvenir. Nope, after about three or four good throws, broken in half.
Boomerang #2: Bought in Adelaide. We brought it to another barbie with Rowan and Nyoli. After a few close calls of it getting it caught in a tree and thinking it was lost, it was thrown and broken in two.
Boomerang #3: Bought at Manly Beach in Sydney. First use on Saturday night. Right after the picture above was taken, Justin threw it and it landed on a roof of a building. Rowan had to help get it down. After a full night of throwing it, this boomerang is still in one full piece! Yay! We might even have it when we come back home in May! You never know.
On Sunday, we had a nice lazy day watching the Cricket. Australia has been doing pretty bad lately and have lost like the last 5 games. But on Sunday, they won! Yay!! We were really excited! We are really going to miss Cricket back home.
Well, that was our weekend in a nutshell. This coming up weekend we are heading down to Victor Harbour with some friends from church so that will be nice! We miss you all!!

Fun Times Around Adelaide

Last week, we headed down to the beach for a swim! It was really hot, so getting in the water was really nice! We went to a beach called Glenelg.

This is Justin's little shade spot he built using two umbrellas! He even dug out a little "bed" and made a "pillow". Only an engineer would build something like this!

More of the beach. This was the crowded end, so we walked about 10 minutes down the beach to find a more quiet spot.

This past weekend we headed to the Fleurieu Peninsula. Our first stop was McLaren Vale wine region. Here is a picture of some grapes. Justin and I tasted them (illegally I think). They were pretty sweet!

Vineyards.

More vineyards.

Next stop was the Coorong. We stopped by the top part of Coorong National Park.

Then off to Victor Harbour. We headed to the penguin refuge. Here are some of the penguins going for a dip.

Walking around Granite Island at Victor.

Then we headed to Deep Creek Conservation Park. Here is a little kangaroo by the ocean.

Pretty overlook.

Jess and I at the overlook.

Cleland!!

Here is a little wallaby.

Justin feeding a wallaby.

Justin feeding some sort of goose.

A kangaroo passed out. It was really hot when we went (we are in the middle of one of the hottest heat waves in Adelaide's history).

The poor guy is so hot! But as soon as we brought out our food, he perked up!
This was our last weekend with Jess, so we went out and traveled around Adelaide a bit. We had quite a bit of fun except it was really hot! Last week we had the hottest day in Adelaide in 70 years! We have been well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit for like 6 days in a row. Yuck!! Anyway, we did have fun exploring, we just had to drink lots of water and wear lots of sunscreen! Jess left this morning and is back off to cold Colorado! Now Justin and I have about 4 week off until our next set of visitors! This weekend I hope to relax and try to stay cool! We miss you all!
